Informationen
The Swiss writer and poet Friedrich Glauser was born on February 4, 1896 in Vienna and died on December 8, 1938 in Nervi. At the end of February 2009, Radio DRS 2 broadcast a program discussing the collected poems of Friedrich Glauser, Pfützen schreien so laut ihr Licht, published in 2008 by NIMBUS.Kunst und Bücher AG. The poems were published for the first time in book form. Up to now I only knew Glausers prose. The poem Irrenhaus (II) grabbed me immediately, and I dared to try to translate the emotionally charged lines into music. According to Irrenhaus (II), black walls and muteness are my further settings of Glauser's poems. The two compositions are closely related to «Irrenhaus (II)» in their style, since the three poems are characterized by the same basic mood. For the settings I have therefore chosen the same instrumentation - with the exception of the song »Stummheit», which does not require a piano.
