Sinowij L. Kompanejetz was born in Moscow in 1902. He died in 1987. Despite intensive research I was not able to find out anything about the life and work of the composer and pianist. After all, the book by Franz Zeyringer, Literature for Viola, states that three of his chamber music works were published in Moscow:
- Poème-Monologue for viola and piano, 1965
- Divertissement No. 1 for violin, viola and violoncello, 1973
- Divertissement No. 2 for violin, viola and violoncello, 1977
Although Sonatina No. 1 for piano was published by Sikorski, it is no longer listed in the assortment of the international music publishers Hans Sikorski. The well-known music researcher Walter Labhart has tracked down the score of this 2nd Divertissement in Poland. It has been published by «Musik», Moscow. Walter Labhart gave the score to Konrad Ewald, the author of the book Musik für Bratsche. After I was allowed to inspect the score and learned that the parts could not be found and may never have been printed, I decided to create an excerpt of the parts to give interested players the opportunity to perform the Divertissement.
